The Program

This program provides three months of actual transaction data from a small business.  Participants of the course are taught how to maintain the bookkeeping for the business for this three month period.  

How the Program Works

• Accounting information from the business is released on Monday of each week.
• Participants are provided instructions in how to complete the bookkeeping for the week through recorded video.  If there are abnormal or unique situations that happen in the business for that week, they are covered in the weekly video overview.  
• On Friday, the accounting data file is provided to the participants for review.
• Participants can review their answers for the week against the answer key.  They are then able to correct their own accounting file as needed.
• This process continues for each week for the three month period.

Is Accounting Experience Necessary?

• This program is designed to be completed by those that have no experience in actually doing Accounting.  
• This course is not a primer in how Accounting works, but rather it teaches Accounting through doing.  Therefore, if a student previously has completed a course (or courses) in Accounting, it is useful background knowledge and will help in providing context for some of the actions being taken.  
• If a participant has no prior education in Accounting, there may be some conventions that are not as intuitive, but this should not, necessarily, inhibit the student from completing the course.

• WV Sales Tax Returns
  • One for each month
• Quarterly WV Business & Occupation Tax Return
• Quarterly WV User Fee Tax Return
